Fall Table Topper Flimsy

Fall Table Topper Flimsy Finish

It feels like a Friday, and definitely like fall. My sewing goal is complete, though, admittedly, it's a carry-over from weeks before. I have another underway already. A simple Christmas door hanging for my mom will brighten the hallway. I'll show you soon.

The weeks of dreading the garden tear out are over since we had our first freeze projected for Sunday night last. I spent the day making hard decisions on what went where. This is my first winter with a greenhouse, and figuring out what will work. The last fall vegetables are in the house, mainly tomatoes and peppers, and the winter hardy things are going strong. Lettuces, kale, and many herbs will be good for another month or so, and some will be brought into the greenhouse yet to winter over there. It's no wonder I feel relief.

Yes, I have to show you this monster Moon & Stars watermelon. Isn't it just terrific? I planted it later in the season so we had melons starting last month. Unlike most homegrown watermelon, it is sweet, juicy, and the seeds fall out easily. You can't beat it! In the gardening world, it's good to find varieties you like, and can depend upon for consistency. This works.

My years long search for a really good, gluten free, sourdough recipe has been found too. It's not as simple as I'd like, but it's fantastic bread that doesn't dry out, and you can slice, toast, and do the things you can do with wheat bread. It fills the gap of missing bread. I have the sourdough keeping pretty well down pat between gluten free and another of wheat, and I just make it part of my routine each week. Contact me if you'd like the recipe.

And fitting in to our daily routine, too, are the new girls. Ivy is the lemon Chin, and Rosie is the black and white. They are lovely puppies, and blending into the family with the other 3 dogs. It's a bit much at times, but they're such a treat. Ivy's currently filling the space between my lap and the keyboard watching me type.

Today I'm off to give blood. It's another one of those things I know I can do to help, and the U.S. is at a National Blood Shortage level. With escalating wars on several fronts, there will be a greater need coming. I was apprehensive before I first gave, but the whole experience was far easier than I thought. They have an app which helps simplify the process; find drives, make appointments, check in the day of, follow your blood donation through the network until it reaches a hospital, and you feel good about it long after you've given. If you're able, please consider giving. It may be you or me that need it someday.

Come on, Doxie girls.
Let's go sew.

Super table topper in color and finishing. I would love the recipe for the GF bread. Never found one I like. My husband needs it and doesn't mind what I bake because he has no choices. I lately have made almond flour bread with psyllium fiber, but it still seems dense and not right tasting to me. If I knew someone would be able to get a needle in me without damaging me, I would consider giving blood. Just getting blood work done is miserable.
