Star Upon Stars #5

Hands down, the best part of making this quilt has been the surprise of what each star will look like! I've become a bit of a kid in wanting to see it as soon as the first star point has been sewn, too. The magic folding mirror is amazing! How did I ever live without it? You can see the original fabric pull for this block in my post, First Side Setting Block for Star Upon Stars.

I love the heavy, dark ring of blue and brown. The 2 green-blue diamonds show nicely against the background too. 

I learned it's important to have that background fabric in place while testing the point orientation. It has far less pizazz in this photo on the bare table.

Now rotated with polka dot print toward the center, the tips are much lighter than the center. There is still a strong ring, but there is more of a blue feeling to the block center. 

This color combination has two good options. The stars will be from one fabric only shown in the photo. It's directional so that will add another component to the block design with possible movement. I was somewhat hesitant with the learning curve of these blocks, but now I'm finding it fun. Who knows how much time I'll have in the near future with the puppies coming so I'm trying to sneak in minutes whenever I find them.
