The New Year is knocking! Are you ready? Maybe you'll do the same thing I will, and greet 2020 with the first sunrise instead of the clock strike at midnight. Either way, Happy New Year to you, and a toast to our past, present, and future together! Julie Stocker Quilts at Pink Doxies is over 5 years old now, and ready for a shift. Notice I said shift and not change. Shift is my word for 2020. More about that to come. 

2019: Happy New Year, 2019!

Last year's quilting keyword for me was honor. It was best expressed by honoring families at our local domestic violence shelter with quilts of their own. The Gnadenhutten Quilt Project was born from that idea, and the majority of my sewing and quilting time was dedicated to supplying those quilts. A small group of friends helped make many of those quilts this past year, and just under 60 were donated. This was an extraordinary experience for all of us, and a great outpouring of love. Thank you to every person who has been a part of the Project in any way big or small this year. What an honor to bless so many! I haven't had the time or inclination to tally up hard numbers this month, but a whole lotta quilts moved through this studio in the past year. I would estimate I quilted around 100 quilts between charity quilts, those of friends, and customers. Yes, that's a LOT of quilting for others, and I was feeling a deep need to quilt something of my own for a change. 

So I reached for this quilt top over the past weekend to play with at my long arm. Something happy and bright I had made for just such an occasion, and took my sweet time to do it!

I'll let these flirty quilting pictures stand on their own this time while I get ready for our little celebration tonight. While many good things have happened this year with the charity work at the Gnadenhutten Quilt Project, I long to get back to more personal quilting for a while. I am ready for a new focus. I would like to connect with you more often, and share some of the incredible things I've learned this year about long arm quilting. See? That's my gentle shift into 2020. I think this is going to be a remarkable year. I hope yours is, too.
