Sewing for Sanity: Cloth Baskets

Super Easy Sewing: Cloth Baskets

Have you ever thought, "I just need to sew something," while life was falling down around your ears? (Summer has been soooo hectic here!) I know for those of us who think this, it's truly a self-directed therapy. We sense that we need to go to a calm, safe place, and our sewing spaces are often just that. So I sewed five of these little cloth baskets for an upcoming swap at a retreat, and I felt like the weight had lifted. Sewing is my normal.

The fabric spoke to me.

No pattern needed. Just tubes and tucks, and basic construction, if you've ever made a purse with a boxed bottom. Each of these took two fat quarters, and a half yard of iron-on batting.

I had an interesting lesson on using fabric with a directional print for this project, but it turned out okay anyhow. Nothing to stress over I told myself. This Sewing was strictly for pleasure.

Come on, Doxie girls.
Let's go sew.

Sometimes you just got to do what you've got to do, I hope you are feeling much better now. I'm in desperate need of sewing therapy. I'm knitting and embroidering just now but it's just not the same.

I need some sewing therapy. Figuring out how to re-organize my fabrics is stressing me out! There has to be sane way to tackle this.

Sewing is sweet to the soul of a sewist. The basket was a great way to help yourself and others which comes back and helps you again!

So true, Sew true! Looking back through the years, I believe sewing has always been my drug of choice. Cute little baskets! I love the fabrics. Will life slow down for you now that fall has arrived?

Glad you were able to get in some sanity sewing. I need a daily dose of it to stay on an even keel most days. The fabric bin turned out nicely. Hope you've been able to get in some more fun stitching the last few days.
