Finished, Bound, Mailed & Delivered
Actually, the quilts are just on their way, but the babies themselves have arrived. I was told by another blogger that having the quilts there within the first year was a reasonable goal, but hitting the first week was remarkable. I was hoping for sooner, but later worked, too, since the twins' arrival was a bit early.
They are not identical quilts. The pattern and quilting are individual, and they even feel unique. The organic, wavy lines made this quilting looser, softer, and a bit loftier. I will absolutely use this style again--I just love it!
I used The Warm Company's Warm&Plush batting, and it has 50% more cotton than Warm&White or Warm&Natural. The stitching pops, and it has a luxurious feel when squeezed.
The second quilt is a Sunshine and Shadow pattern or Trip Around the World. Both quilts have the same binding, which is a natural colored linen-look print used in each.
Echoed hearts were a contrast to the organic lines. Both were quilted freehand on my HQ Avante longarm with So Fine #50 thread.
My long job list for summer is being knocked down line by line. It's nearly the end of July, and my thoughts are inching toward fall. Back to a studio routine, and maybe something fun to tell you about soon (like a monthly theme that has me very excited to start!)
But this week I have a few nights 'booked' at my daughter's apartment nearby The Dairy Barn in Athens, Ohio. Quilt National is the show, and two days of classes on site for me. A mid-week getaway will be just what I need to clear up the poison ivy and poison sumac I got last week while clearing gardens here at home.
We'll talk soon!
Come on, Doxie girls.
Let's go sew.

The are both so cute. I'm not sure which is my favorite.
Two cute quilts . I particularly like the Trip Around the World because the colors look so great. I've never heard of Warm and Natural Plush. I'll have to find some to give it a try.
I LOVE LOVE those adorable quilts! Well done! Oh dear, I have heard of several cases of poison ivy this summer, like what is going on? And baaaad cases. Feel better soon my friend. :-)
This is such a cute fabric line for girls. Your quilts came out great!
They both look great! I've tried those organic lines, but they didn't look so nice. I especially like the heart quilting on the second one.
You weave magic with baby quilts, Julie! As I was reading today's post, I saw the Quilter's Laundry Day post come up as a featured post and I enjoyed reading it all over again! The way you made it into a real quilt (instead of mini) was genious!
Yay! Two beautiful quilts on their way to a new home! How inspiring you are! Enjoy your midweek get-away.
Very cute Julie - in my favorite colors too!
