"Pop Stars" for Halloween
Tonight is a full moon, or more specifically a Hunter's Moon, Blood Moon, or Sanguine Moon. Hunters made use of the moon's light to build their food supply before winter. Can I blame that for this strange post?
I've been sewing like a fiend, but taking care of myself, too. While I've been trying to catch up on friendships that have been hard to attend to, others have got in touch with me out of the blue. Old, dear friends that I've lost contact with have recently called. Is there something in the air? I was off visiting one dear daughter, and literally ran into a friend in the middle of the street. I can count on two hands the people I know in that town.
Darlene, aka Quilt Shop Gal, sent me this Oh-So-Darling-Doxie in the mail just because! I love it, Darlene. Thank you! QBL (Quilting Blogland) surrounds me warmly with friends--coined by Sandra at Musings of a Menopausal Melon and Helen of Midget Gem Quilts, and I am so grateful.
Now a little about quilting. The top is done, the Minkee is in the frame, and the batting stands ready. My Aurifil Invisible thread has been tested, and I've been in contact with my best source, Beth at Cooking Up Quilts. She's used it successfully in her Handiquilter, and warned me about loosening my tension. I've never used a monofilament thread in my longarm before, and my test sample was exciting. The nylon thread reflected the light. It looked just like gossamer! You cannot believe how excited I was to see the shimmer like a cobweb on that sample!
The only downside I've found so far with Aurifil's Invisible thread is it is terribly hard to see. Yes, I know that's the point, but my glasses had to be turned in for a week to replace the lenses, and I'm stuck doubling up with both an old pair plus a pair of cheaters at the same time. It's quite a sight, but add to it an LED light so I see better to thread it! I thought you'd appreciate the laugh as much as I did when you saw where I clipped my light. As Beth says, "Just keepin' it real, folks."
Three days to Halloween.
Come on, Doxie girls.
Let's go sew.

It's so much fun to catch up with old friends. I love the gorgeous star quilt!
Looking forward to seeing the finished result after all your effort coming up with a system to see the quilting - great photo!
Sounds like fun times. Glad you like the Halloweenie Dog.

Smiling!!
You crack me up! :) Looks to me like some real serious quilting going on - love the double glasses, and the light is the icing on the cake. Thanks for the giggle, you made my day!
Gee....I thought it was a new fashion statement! As long as you can see to do your quilt is all that matters.
Happy Halloweenie! I LOVE it! Wish I HAD big enough boobs to hang an extra light...bahaha. Thanks for the grin this am! btw MacGyver loved the Halloweenie too. :-)
How funny! You are creative to say the least! Can't wait to find out how the quilting goes with the invisible thread!
Great post. If you think Invisible thread is hard to see when you sew, just try finding it to rip out. I only use it for stitching in the ditch now. Good luck
