Who are the Pink Doxie Girls?

August 13, 2014

This early a.m. is our third rainy start in a row.  I won't protest. We needed the rain here, and I will be inside sewing today without guilt. The Doxie girls and I are having coffee outside while listening to crows, chattering birds, and the occasional zip of a hummingbird arriving for breakfast.

Have you met my beautiful Doxie girls yet? It's high time for introductions then.

Hi. Do you want to come out and quilt with me?

I was born in the 60's, and really refer to the 70's as the decade when I grew up. I lived in a neighborhood packed full of kids. My suburban street alone with 8 houses had interesting demographics; 6 girls: 14 boys. Add in all their friends, boy friends, and girl friends. Loud cars, motorcycles, fist fighting, name calling, and the era right before air conditioning. I was the youngest. Use your imagination.

Egads! I've been blindsided. I vaguely remember summer getting started, a quiet 4th of July with a parade, and a few picnics.

We have your typical gas station with the essentials, but as for a quilter's needs, one must take a road trip. Off to Charm, Ohio, to Miller's Dry Goods. It's one of my favorite local shops.

First Foods

Some of my first memories are wrapped up in quilts. I remember them at my grandma's and my great-grandmother's houses. Sometimes we would get out the special ones just to look at and remember. My mother was not a quilter, but an avid sewer. She had inherited a velvet and corduroy Victorian crazy quilt

Birth Annnouncement-The Family is Growing

The dogs joined me in the garden for a quiet breakfast. It was a foggy morning, slow to start, but the mosquitoes were already fierce even with my candles and coils. I was looking

Oh, Baby, Baby!

Small children learn to do things by doing. Some are Watchers, who take it all in and rehearse it many times in their minds, and then just do it without a problem. Others are the Fearless 'move first-think later' category.
