Spindrift II: It Floats

"It Floats"

I have some amazing, supportive friends around the world. I traveled young, and am lucky several of those friendships are still strong. But the blogging world has also been a road onto itself connecting me with other like-minded souls. I am grateful for that. One dear friend who hails from Australia, Jan, said, "Oh, Julie! It floats!" about this quilt. I think she summed it up well. It Floats is together, and the class at Berlin Quilter's Gathering is just around the corner. I am hoping to have it quilted by then, but if not, there is a lot to learn by looking at the back. I'm not worried.

By the way, there are a few spots left in Thursday's class, and one in Friday's. I'd love to see you there!

I know you've seen some of these pictures already, but never in my life have I had so many problems with light! The colors on this quilt are very hard to photograph realistically. So outside it went, and I snapped several in the shade. Summer light is very bright here unless it's rainy. The mushrooms now will tell that story.

In the end I just dug the fish. I think it's a great focal point, and you don't always get the chance to do something like this. It stayed.

The little dresdens are adorable! They are set off so well on the low volume background, and in many ways they make the design cohesive, in my opinion. They're also good at balancing the loud and soft colors overall.

I love fish, and love pink, so what's not to love here? They swim in and behind these windows like an aquarium tank.

And every once in a blue moon, or my birthday, I take a few pictures of me. I'm not a selfie kind of gal, but I want to remember me as time passes. We are more than just our faces. Let the light shine through!

Come on, Doxie girls.
Let's go sew.

Looking forward to the class. Such an interesting quilt. I am glad I am more than my 67 year old face!

I used to have mutant goldfish like those in my outdoor pond. They kinda waddle through the water. Very fun quilt.

This is a fun quilt! And so many different quilting techniques involved, that it should be a good class. Fun selfie, btw! You are looking great! I have a terrible time holding a phone in my outstreched arm to get the right angle, lol.
