How to Make Weekly Studio Goals Within Reason

It's Monday early, and both my personal and studio To-Do-Lists are crippling! I had a relaxing, long weekend away, but arrived home to find I'm swamped even when I was very organized. It feels awful.

How Do You Cope?

First, I am a list maker. I wrote everything down for each list--even though it was overwhelming. Then I prioritized half of it, and picked 4 of those things to start on. Still too much, perhaps, but well within reason. I made reachable goals.

#1. Walk 30 minutes a day.

I know you'll say, "That is not a sewing goal." Actually it is. I am finding I'm not getting enough exercise just running back and forth to the studio, and I'm feeling mentally and physically stressed. We have to take care of our bodies and minds, and I'm prioritizing to make
walking each day a new habit.

#2. Load the longarm with a small quilt.

There are at least 3 quilts hanging over the belly bar, and none pinned in. It's surprising how easy it is to walk into the studio, and start by free motion stitching as a warm up for even 15 minutes. A baby quilt doesn't take hours, and I can knock some out this week. First up is Jelly Beans and Chocolate since Easter is around the corner.

#3. Plan out my charity quilt for Hands2Help.

Sarah at Confessions of a Fabric Addict graciously heads up, and hosts this annual online event in its 6th year. Information about this multi-charity project can be found through the link, and you are eligible for prizes if you sign up by March 19. I'll also be guest blogging there on May 15, and am looking forward to being involved with the dynamic group of quilters with the same goal.

I've chosen to do a quilt for Covered in Love, and think I have a simple, but meaningful project in mind to share.

#4. Work on my kit for Craftsy.

I have a kit for a roomy tote bag teasing me to get it started. Packed with Anna Marie Horner fabrics, it feels scrappy, fun, and spring-y. Is spring knocking on your door, too?

On Sale for $21.78

The Doxie girls and I have our week planned out, but we're still being flexible. We know it never goes as planned. What's on your list this Monday morning?

Now that the weather is improving, I'm hoping to get walking more often. I think I need to re-do my list and prioritize items. Good luck!

I am a huge list maker too - but sometimes - I forget where I put the list! Your goals are good ones, and I am with you on the walking. I have dogs - so I feel like I have to take them for a wlak - makes me accountable - ha ha!

I start my list with the absolute have to do's, then add in one long term goal that needs to get started or it will be on my absolute have to do list.
