"The essential conditions of everything we do must be choice, love, passion."
~Nadia Boulanger
Immediately after a quilt top finish, I like to stop for a breather and clean the studio. Organizing is the therapy I need before saying hello to the next new thing. I sorted the scrap pile I'd made creating the Moda Modern, and when I opened my bins to put them away, it was like the scene from Jumanji where Alan Parrish was sucked into the board game.
All those glorious scraps were enticing me to 'do something' with them. I broke down right then, and made a little zipper bag. And then another. Everything I used is a leftover. One of the zippers and facings was even recycled from another project that I had torn apart.
While I was sewing--that mindless improvizational scrapping, I came up with ideas of how to shortcut the process. I'm gearing up to share these with you in a few days.
Zipper bags are one of the most useful items I make, and as a little project are the most rewarding. I start and finish the process in a short amount of time, and since I'm using up my scrap stash, they're lovely little presents to give away.
These 3 are already promised, and thankfully there are more in mid-process. I've never met anyone who didn't like a little pop of color in their life, and these are so fun to tuck into your purse.
Go make something you're passionate

Arent quick projects rewarding :) I also clean and tidy my sewing area when I finish, think I sew the same way as how I cook, clean and tidy as I go hahahahaah sad but true ;)
Are you going to show how you made them, or did you already cover that? They are just what I would like to make.
I would also love a tutorial on how these cute little pouch-zipper bags are made.
Your little bags are adorable. I have yet to venture into the pouch making world, but really want to. Great gifts!
Great idea for those scraps! For someone who loves to use up every last piece, this would be the perfect project for those! Thanks you, your zipper pouches are beautiful!
They are so cute!!!! Thank you for sharing pictures.
At this point in my life, I'm all about doing things that I'm passionate about. You've found your niche, too, and making little items like these to surprise your friends is truly pleasurable. They look great!
Super fun way to use up scraps.
What a great use for those fun scraps. I used some of my scraps to make a name tag this week. Maybe I should give small bags a try?
Love these! As you know, I do love bags...I get a little chill, as well as a little sniff of melancholy, seeing that top one, and knowing just 2 days ago I held it! Absolutely love the orange fabric on the back...
Great pouches. Looking forward to hearing your tips.
Cute pouches, especially that yellow zip! I am currently working on a couple zippy pouches as well - they are perfect for sharing, but this time I am making one for me as well;) I had hoped to have them ready for a Friday Finish & my 200th post, but our power went out last night and damned if I do not own a treadle. or a gas lamp haha.
Fun, fun, fun!! Use the selvedge one you gave me regular as either a tote for my datebook or a few essentials on my way to run errands on my bike!!
So fun! I love your pouches -- such great colour combinations (great photos too!). I have a silly fear of zippers, but scraps that are begging to be used. May need to suck it up and try a pouch -- especially if you have some tips to share. Can you add a link to TGIFF! so your readers can find us too? Thanks!
These are lovely little projects - I think I need something like this in my life at the moment! I am like you and do like to give my studio a good clean between projects. Just done a couple of days ago but already the threads and lint are accumulating .....
Oh, my goodness! I just realized that I'm a gift recipient of one of your gorgeous, blog photographed, zippered bags. Thank you, thank you! It's going in my purse pronto. Forever, or at least for years.
Great little pouches and an excellent use of the scraps!
