Back to Moda Modern Building Blocks
The studio was in shambles a few weeks ago. (Really. The other side of the shelved stash was worse.) I could live with it, and work in bare feet or socks so I don't step on anything vital, but toward the end I was patting at piles trying to find things. (Don't lie. I know you've done this.)
That's my signal to clean up, but WIP's were first.
That's my signal to clean up, but WIP's were first.
The red, white and blue quilt on the floor came together, and is now a flimsy. The backing is washed, and ready to pin in the longarm. Like many of you, I like to work on multiple projects at the same time so I can do a little piecing here, a little quilting there, etc.
My Handiquilter rep is scheduled to do my in-home training for Axel my Avante, and I am expecting a visit from another blogger friend. I've been cleaning as I'm finishing, and the next goal is to get the Moda Modern Blocks off the design wall. It's dominated for months, and I'm ready to move on.
The larger blocks were all done but one, and it was down to the 6" blocks with lots of tiny piecing.
I'm having a harder time keeping the blocks the correct size. My 1/4" seams might be the slightest bit too scant, and I'm worrying about squaring it all up, and putting it together now.
This last block below may not make the cut for the quilt. I've auditioned all my reds, but it goes next to a peachy pink and flat orange, and nearby some other very odd colors. I'm just not happy with it. I may take the liberty to change the color completely, but I'll wait until the very last.
Summer is zipping by us, and I hope you're enjoying your holidays. I'm off having some fun myself, but still enjoying my quilting books in the shade. Until next time...
Come on, Doxie girls.
Let's go sew.

Yay! There it is :) I was hoping to see some more of this quilt. I just love this quilt so much and can't wait to see yours when it all finally comes together. I'm practically finished with mine...i onlyhave 45 more blocks to make.
Getting that scant 1/4' right on is a trial isn't it. The blocks are really pretty though. I like all the pinks and reds, and yes I have been reduced to patting piles of fabric to look for things and I've been worried about stepping on things and breaking them as well. It's nice to know I have company.
Oh aren't they pretty blocks, and even messy I love your studio - it just looks amazing to have all that space to lay out and really immerse yourself in what you're doing!
