I am most definitely grateful for Friday!
I pushed all week to get this top done.
This is my last of three baby quilts
I had lined up, and now it's
Before I begin, I have a funny story to tell.
Can you see all the threads? I had the toughest time cutting my fabric when I started, and realized I had a nick in my rotary cutter. I had spares so I changed it out for a new one. Then loads of threads appeared when I cut, and I had no idea what was going on. I thought it must be the new wheel. Maybe my cutter was going bad after all these years? After all the fabric was cut, I decided I would change it again--I had a 5 pack. Low and behold, I had accidently put "2" new wheels on the cutter. They were so smooth that they'd stuck to each other, and so thin that I couldn't tell. Lesson learned.
Log Cabins Again!
I did a simple log cabin block starting with a 5" square. All strips around it are 2 1/2" wide. One side took a 5", the next two took 7", and the final took 9". Not tough pieces to measure, and I did a lot of stacking and cutting quickly.
Cut through the middle both ways, and rearrange. You will have one place that the same fabric has to be side by side.
This is Floriography by Riley Blake Fabrics. I use 5 different shades of blue to green for centers, which then formed a secondary pattern when cut. I did this randomly, but only had one place where two of the same color touched side-by-side.
I dashed off to the local fabric store, Miller's Dry Goods, and found this very sweet pink gingham on sale. I think it will be just what it needs.

Miller's Dry Goods in Charm, Ohio ??? I live about 45 min away. Are you a fellow Ohioan :-)
What a cool method ... the single-print rectangles give it a really nice organic feel.
What a sweet little quilt and so colorful. Love it!
I love your quilt, Julie! Such great colours and fabrics. I've put two blades on before too - lol!
I really like the colors in this quilt!
I can totally understand why you'd have both blades stuck together. I'm always afraid when I separate them they will slip and I'll cut my finger off. I wish there was a better way to package them!
