Jenna's Most Glorious Scrap Quilt Finish

A Legacy Quilt Finished

The details about this project can be found at Jenna's Most Glorious Scrap Quilt. I must add that it has been an honor to be involved with it through quilting. This quilt is simply beautiful to behold. It glows with every color of the rainbow. But perhaps it's more because of the nearly century-span of fabric that passed from person to person through decades waiting for the hands that stitched love in to it. It's one of those pieces that makes you stop and take it all in. It's one woman's legacy quilt.

I was a bit shocked when I realized how many weeks it had been on my longarm. Irene, the quilt maker, had been very patient with me while I worked on it. We had a friends' understanding about it. It took time, and I had so many other projects going at the same time, but I think a part of me was stalling. Scrap quilts are my absolute favorite...

...but last week I made up my mind it was time.

Several days of sticking to it was the ticket. Work an hour, and a quick break. Repeat. Repeat. Repeat. 42 stars, and saw tooth and appliqued borders. A quilt like this just takes time and endurance...

...but the maker will be remembered for lifetimes.

Come on, Doxie girls.
Let's go sew.

And you, Julie, are a part of the legacy that I will leave for Jenna and her generation!! I am the honored one! I knew that it would stretch you and you rose to the challenge in a very beautiful, thoughtful way! There is something so satisfying about truly completing something we set out to do! Can't say thanks long enough and loud enough! I will bind this over time....it is a very big quilt, and I want to enjoy the 'journey's end' -- then my granddaughter shall have it!
