Spin Drift
Pattern by Michelle McKillop
for Jen Kingwell Designs
Are you ready for a few weeks full of quilter's eye candy? Then stayed tuned each day as I roll through all the blocks I've completed for this quilt. They are gorgeous because the pattern was made for the fabric! "What?!" you say. Well, this pattern was made especially to use those large scale prints we all love, and have to buy a little of, but struggle to use in our quilts. I was dying to get mine into a quilt so this was a heavenly match. It was like having the Oreo cookies, and finding cream filling!
I also discovered a valid reason for cutting into my treasured stash of medium scale prints, and digging through leftover charm packs. Would you guess I even whittled down my favorite small scraps? It's an incredible stash quilt, and I've begun to call it an I Spy for Adults. Oh, you shall see! This is one fun quilt!

I can't wait to show you everything, but I'm going to dole them out a little at a time. Too much candy is bad for you, you know, and we're all still recovering from Valentine's Day!
Here's the cover of the pattern to tempt you, and see you back here tomorrow, sugar.
Come on, Doxie girls.
Let's go sew.

Your fussy cut centre is perfect for the block and you have great appliqué skills, not a stitch to be seen. Beautiful
ReplyDeleteThat is a great block for the big prints. Looking forward to seeing more of your blocks.
ReplyDeleteYour word pictures had me ‘in stitches’ ( Grandma Knowles favorite saying!). Here’s one of your examples... . I was dying to get mine into a quilt so this was a heavenly match. It was like having the Oreo cookies, and finding cream filling. Haha. These blocks will have my complete attention. Perfect pattern for large prints.
ReplyDeleteI'll follow along. I think this block is great especially the patched blades. the cover to the pattern is very busy and really keeps your eye moving. I bet you'll have fun with this one.

ReplyDeleteI have never had the guts to tackle a Jen Kingwell pattern. Bravo for you. I am afraid I would get myself totally confused with fabric.
