How Tweet It Is!

We feed the birds throughout the fall, winter, and spring. Sure, on the edge of a large woods they can forage for food, and especially during such a mild winter as we're having, but we feed to draw them in. We want to see the red cardinals, graphic woodpeckers, little gray juncos and titmice, yellow-green false canaries, brown sparrows and wrens, and even those nasty blue jays color our world when most things are gray. It's been a green winter here, but still the birds add so much color.

I was going to write that we don't have birds the color of the above fabric here in Ohio, but had to rethink it. We do, but not in those combinations. Purple martins are really a blue-violet, and barn swallows too. Bluebirds are a the most remarkable blue, and don't forget all the brilliant warblers and the red tanager. 

Is it odd that we designate a color before so many birds' names? 

This colorful block is added to the wall, and will give the quilt as much color as my winter birds. I wonder which one to show you tomorrow? Just 3 more left, and on to the sashing and cornerstone Dresdens. I'd  better get a move on!
