Fall Themed Charity Quilts

All the Colors of Fall Fabrics

The charity quilt tops I've pulled to quilt recently definitely have fall vibrations. I'm drawn to these earth tones! Rich burgundies, greens, and golds are mainstays of our fall palettes.

These quilts were made by many hands for the Gnadenhutten Quilt Project. We share them with residents of a local domestic violence shelter, Harbor House, here in Tuscarawas Co., Ohio, USA. This shelter also accepts pets, which you must know are near and dear to my heart, and those involved in the Project. Why a Domestic Violence Shelter Accepts Pets

This quilt might seem dated to you. It is, but it makes me smile, too. My mom, who quilts with us every week, appliqued all these hearts--and then some decades before, and Irene, a dedicated maker turned them into the center. When I got the top, I added this brown border to bring it up to size. The backing was pieced from the same, and it was ready for the longarm, and a quick meander. Many hands make quick work.

Other times I let my ProStitcher take over with a computerized E2E, and I get busy at the sewing machine with other work. There are many steps to get a quilt finished.

This monster stack of quilts needed labels before sending them off to waiting hands. Two down, and 23 to go! It's been a busy couple of months here. Prepare for a quilt show in the next post. I can't wait to show you the beautiful finishes from so many hands!

Come on, Doxie girls.
Let's go sew.

There's something very timeless about hearts, and baskets, in a quilt. Sure to bring comfort and hope to the recipient.

Such lovely charity quilts! I love your mom's hearts. And I'm having some ProStitcher envy, too... :-). Great job all around.

What a special quilt to work on with the hearts your mom made. The plaids really set it off and make it look cozy!
