'Macrophytes'
14" x 16.5"
This piece was created using a deconstructed silk screen process with Procion MX dyes, and Kona cotton. It is color fast. It was stitched by hand with a variety of Prescencia cotton thread, which has a subtle sheen. The backing and binding are also made with hand dyed Kona cotton here in my studio. It is available for sale for $140. A hanging sleeve will be added at the purchaser's request, and in their preference of orientation.
Shipping in the Continental U.S. is included. Contact information is below.

For those of you who are curious about the title, Macrophytes are aquatic plants. They may be either entirely submerged underwater like grasses, or live partially submerged like lilies. As a child I swam in ponds, and remember my feet brushing plants growing along the bottom. Occasionally they could be seen if you bravely opened your eyes underwater, but the sunlight had to travel down through the depth to provide enough light. It's a good memory, and I felt it when looking at this print full of golds, greens, and blues.

Beautiful. Just lovely.
Ooh, very pretty, beautiful hand-stitching! Love your description of swimming in ponds; can totally relate to that slippery noodle feeling of the plants brushing against my toes and lower limbs!
Your stitching brings the piece alive, giving movement. Lovely.
Nice work!
Beautiful, Julie. I love how your hand stitches add movement to the piece like water flowing through the leaves. Some of my best memories are swimming in a huge pond owned my a friend's family.
Lovely Piece Julie! The stitching is beautiful!
