Zipper Bags Simplified: Part 2 of 4

This is a continuation of Zipper Bags Simplified: Part 1 of 4

Press with a warm iron staying away from the nylon teeth. A hot iron may damage the zipper. (Feel relieved that the hardest part is over.)

Make a quilt sandwich with your facing on the botton, batting in the middle, and quilt block and backing on top as shown.

Stitch through all the layers with a straight stitch. I find this works best by increasing my stitch length to 3.0-3.5 cm. A walking foot is preferable, but if you have none, work slowly feeding the sandwich through your machine. I do not baste or spray baste these layers, and have no problem with shifting.

Trim both pieces. I leave about 1/8" batting sticking out beyond my block on both pieces.

Lay the parts out as you will be assembling them. Center the zipper in the middle of the bag front and back.

Flip the zipper portion on top of your front piece keeping the zipper centered. Hold the inner facing back, and stitch right sides together using a 1/4" seam on your sewing machine with a standard foot and a 2.5 cm stitch length.

Come on, Doxie girls.
Let's go sew.
