Happy Birthday & True Colors Explanation

Creativite Expression used to be an academic subject in this house. It's now used for other purposes, but my kids continue to make me smile every day. Don't you love this? I do!

Today is my birthday, and the last of the 40's.

Yes! Life gets sweeter all the time. Yes, there are changes, and some are harder than others, but it keeps life interesting. I try to remember, it's all good.

One of my favorite things in the whole world is colorful fabric, and I got a little bit last week. How gorgeous is this box?

I've had this bundle on order for several weeks, and almost forgot it was coming. Sundara Oasis by Dena Designs, Freespirit Fabric. This link is to the Freespirit site with lots of good information, and free patterns. A definite look-see.

The exotic feeling fabrics make me think of that transitional--almost tropical time between summer and fall. You know, when it's hot and still in August, and you long for a breeze in the afternoon, but you can't even buy one? I'll be working with elephant fabrics then.

Did you know 'sundara' comes from Sanskrit meaning 'beautiful'?

My Confusion

I had been looking for fat quarter bundles to complement focus fabrics already in my stash. Not all the fabrics in a quilt can scream, "Look at me!" I kept seeing the True Colors label with the Tula Pink fabrics, and thought they were only for her line. I picked two. When they arrived, I was surprised to discover I hadn't read the rest of the description, and one was for Joel Dewberry. No problem. They were great, too, but I had to do some research on what happened.

What You Need to Know

"FreeSprit True Colors is a new, designer-driven program featuring fresh, modern prints destined to become sewer's, quilter's and crafter's favorites. FreeSpirit designers Joel Dewberry, Anna Marie Horner, Heather Bailey, and Jenean Morrixon contribute prints and palettes true to each artist's unique aesthetic. Each designer offers five distinctive prints in four color ways that can stand alone or can be used as "mixer prints." True Colors offers you a contemporary and on-going essentials program brought to you by some of today's best-known designers with additions from our other well-loved artists in the future. In total, FreeSprit True Colors offers a full 'spectrum' of design and color individually expressed true to each artist's trendy form."

                                                 ~From the FreeSpirit website

Tomorrow I'll show you my finish for the 2015 Modern Quilt Guild Challenge for Riley Blake, and at midnight Friday will open the linky party for the Pet Project Show. Can you send me some of your project photos? It would be a wonderful present on this most happy birthday.

Come on, Doxie girls.
Let's eat cake for breakfast, and then go sew.

Happy birthday! We are celebrating the same birthday only a few days apart. Thank yiou for explaining what Free Spirit was doing with True Colors. I originally thought it was only Tula also and then noticed the other lines and thought it had just become a trendy name. Can't wait to see what you create with your lovely new fabrics!

Happy Birthday, Julie! I am quite envious of the Denyse Schmidt solids. All the fabrics look lovely. It has been so hot here this week, and I am out of ice cream. Pup and I have been sharing popsicles. Cheers! Have a wonderful birthday!

I hope you have had, and continue to have for the next 5 more hours, a most wondrous birthday, Julie! BAHAHA, how I adore that card! Sounds like your kids' humour is akin to mine. I would have a hard time disturbing the fabrics in that gorgeous box...it's just too beautiful arrayed like that! Okay you got all the fat quarter bundles too? I am drooling here.

Happy birthday Julie! You are birthday buddies with my mom. She turned 80 today. So you are celebrating in good company!
That box of solids is gorgeous. I agree with Sandra, it would be hard to dive into that one. It's too pretty.
Hope your year is filled with joy and good health, not to mention lots of quilting

Happy birthday! However belated. I picked up the Jenean Morrison true colors bundle last year from Massdrop, because they looked like great blenders that I didn't have in my stash. And I have used them a lot and am really happy with the quality of the free spirit fabrics.
