My "Need to Make or Buy" Christmas list is very small in spite of our family's size, but it still has some big holes in it. I may not get it all done before the big day, but that's still okay. I know there are people who believe the holiday is ruined if the presents aren't just perfect--or complete, but I live in the real world. I don't have little children anymore, and we're all very busy people. Realistically, there isn't always enough of me to go around. Any of this sound familiar?
There are a few obligations to fulfill this week, but other than those I have a whole week to myself. Dear husband and I are having a Stay-cation while the rest of the family travels this week. This is a first in over 25 years. I'm not sure whether it's a happy or sad event yet, but it's like a dry run for Empty Nesting. I have barn duty twice a day, around 300 gallons worth of fish tanks to feed, parakeets, the neighbor's cats, and then our own dogs. Whew!
Today is limited for sewing time, but I'd like to zip through the matching pillow for dear son. It's all laid out, and I've done this before, so it should be a straight shot through. It would also be helpful to quilt together a few fabrics needed for purses intended for gifts.
Two goals for the week: Whittle the "Need to Make" list, and take a walk with the dog each day. I've noticed with all the sewing time, I'm not getting enough movement in my day. I think that's the nicest way to put it. It may help with the neck and shoulder tension I get while sewing, and maybe Lucy and I will both slim down our waistlines a little.
I hope you enjoy my Little Glitter Houses today. They're surely my inspiration for Little Houses Little Trees.
Focus your efforts. Keep your sanity. Live in the moment of the season. The Winter Solstice is in one week, and then we will start gaining light each day. I'm looking forward to that. Until then, I'll send you this little of my own light to hold you through the week.
I've got to go wake the llamas and alpacas.
After that, the Doxie Girls and I are off to sew.
