Project "Feather the Nest": Dog Beds

Today is the first of a string of a few stellar autumn days. Sun and mild temperatures for this time of November are fully enjoyable, if not untypical. Here, we've had a keen eye on the weather during our barn project, and every spare moment on dear husband's part has been spent there in both sun and rain. I hope that the remaining material come in an are installed this week. We're all ready for the barn to be done. The Arctic cold front hits us Tuesday night, and I fear for the harsh winter they're predicting to be near on it's heels. Brrr.

This is when most of us want the Outside work to be done, and start to focus on feathering our nests for winter inside. It's the time to change over to a fluffy duvet on the bed, and cover your hard floors with more rugs. Light a little fire, and let's get cozy. A quick fix for color could be changing your couch pillows to something wintery or holiday-like. How about trying a patchwork pillow there? Small projects are ideal for trying out a new piecing technique or practicing your machine quilting. How about some pretty hot pads for Thanksgiving? If not for you, then a gift for your hostess! You realize that's 2 1/2 weeks away already, (do you know where your turkey is?),and there's a lot that needs to happen between now and then for most of us. If you have just a little time, pick a small project, relax, and let it help you decorate this year. Little daily touches are far easier than trying to make it all happen in one afternoon. Enjoy the process, and don't let the work overwhelm you.

While I'm not quite ready to show you the detail on the whole finish of my first project for "Feather the Nest", I'll give you a little peek. It involves a cold dog, and a new warm bed. Oh, and a quilt!

Here's Minnie in the sewing room giving the new bed her paw stamp of approval.
Doesn't every dog need her own quilt?

Make time to quilt today.

Come on, Doxie Girls.
Let's go sew.
