Uppsala Stars Modern: Finished and Bound
Uppsala Stars is a Sew You Learn teaching pattern I've created, and available through Craftsy. It's made with easy measurements, and ideal for a beginner to intermediate quilter to work through on their own. I hope you enjoy this new colorway.

True confession: This was a finish from last week. I was waiting for a beautiful day to take pictures, and a dry spot to lay it in. The water has been running off our hill in a steady current for days, but there were a few high and dry spots by late afternoon. I fought the light, but as most of you know, sometimes it just is what it is.
No time to press out those folds this afternoon, but I'm still very pleased with the pieced backing.
This was a pantograph that actually arrived with my HandiQuilter longarm. It suited the quilt perfectly, I thought.
As I roamed around looking for dry ground, I stopped to smell the flowers. This Lenten rose is right outside my front door.
The daffodils were up against the treeline in the woods, and the little grape hyacinths have naturalized nearly everywhere after almost 30 years.
This all white Lenten rose never lifts its head to the light. I had to show you the beautiful green and cream striping. This was always the best plant to hide eggs under, but we have no one that age anymore. I'm sure there will be some in years to come, but the Doxies and I are happy to wait. And in the meantime...

ReplyDeleteBeautiful quilt and the quilting looks great. I always get cranky when the weather does not cooperate with my quilting finishes...how dare it. Our daffodils are blooming and the pops of yellow make it feel like spring is actually here.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful! And your backing is just as beautiful. It complements the front. I like this new color scheme, but I must admit that the version in your Craftsy pattern store is the one that I prefer. The red and grey Uppsala Stars is simply stunning. :-)

ReplyDeleteI have admired your Uppsala Stars from the moment I saw them. They seem to sparkle just a bit more than any other star pattern. I love everything about this quilt - the design, the colors (they pop), the borders, the pieced backing and the quilting.

What a wonderful post. I happen to like the way the light plays on your quilt; the sun and the shadows lend a real life quality to your beautiful quilt. I can't decide which one I like better! I love the backing you pieced too, nice touch. Gorgeous flowers; I'd never heard of a Lenten rose, and both are exquisite. Don't you get SUCH inspiration from Nature's colours that you want to drop everything and go make a quilt NOW using whatever palette your eye has fallen upon? And personally I find your photos a perfect size...
