AMH Loominous Quilt Finish

Anna Marie Horner Loominous
Quilt Kit from Craftsy

I've written about the charm of quilt kits from Craftsy in the past, and how they're great to have on hand when you need a quick quilt. The fabric is pulled, the pattern is included, and they mail it to you. (It's like pizza delivery.) I think, "A lot of bang for little effort (and buck) on my part." When this kit went on sale, I snapped it up. I had seen the Loominous line in stores, and it was not your run of the mill quilting fabric. This woven draped more like luxurious chambray with light body, and felt so soft! I knew I would love it next to my cheek when snuggling with a quilt.

Cue the dog.

Christmas rolled around, the house was full of family, and I escaped to my little sewing set up in our bedroom to stitch. I could hear everything that was happening, but was still out of the fray at that distance. The top didn't take long to piece, and there was someone to help snap a picture.

I long arm quilted this piece with flowing waves. There's no rhyme or reason how to do it. Sometimes I aim for opposite curves, and some times they need to be more in sync. It's a quick method, and leaves the whole quilt feeling very soft, fluid, and warm. The batting is Fairfield's 50/50 bamboo/cotton blend. My favorite! The backing is a solid navy from JoAnn's, and the binding included in the Craftsy kit.

This fabric line is called Loominous. The patterns are actually woven (loomed) into fabric with dyed fiber. They are not printed afterward like regular quilting fabric. Within several colors are small metallic threads giving just a bit of shine or luminosity. So it's a good play on words.

The Loominous Wovens line is still available in yardage through Craftsy, and is on clearance.

My PUPs stack (Pile of Unloved Projects) is becoming smaller by the week. I can actually see an end in sight.

I feel like Rumpelstiltskin spinning straw into gold!

The collection of finished tops and backs is getting too heavy for my rack now. These are all from the 2018 New Year and onward.

My long arm is loaded, and I quilt a little each day.
It's Doable.

Make what you love.
Use what you have.
Listen more.
Talk less.

Come on, Doxie girls.

That is a great fabric line - very much different looking once it's in the quilt versus seeing the product photo. Good call! BTW, it looks like you've been making at least one quilt a week. Awesome!

I love the quilting on your Loominous! I am thinking I may do something similar on my Postcard from Sweden. Thanks for the inspiration!

Wow, a great kit and kudos on knocking another WIP down! Love these fabrics and wasn't aware of them. They look like Ikats and like they'd coordinate great with shot cottons or aboriginal style designs. Got to try to get some!

I just finished this one as well! Almost finished, I should say - I still need to bind it. It is so lovely and soft. :)

When I first glanced at your quilt I thought it had lots of plaids, but I guess the stripes and the wavy quilting gave it that illusion. I really like it. That fabrics are so fun.

I loved this fabric line when it first came out. I have to admit I was a bit scared off by the feel of the fabric. I was worried I wouldn't get square blocks because of the drape. I should have pushed that doubt aside! I absolutely love your quilt and the quilting is perfect!
