Give Away Days at Sew Mama Sews

Give Away Time At Sew Mama Sew!
It's Here! It's Time! Are You Ready?

It rolls around just once a year now, and it's fun for everyone involved. Let's just say it feels like Christmas comes early for quilters.

I'm going to make this short and sweet. I'm giving away a new tool I've found, and am over-the-top thrilled with. I used it cutting out triangle for this lovely flying geese quilt, and anytime I have stacks of fabric to cut through.

Go from this...

to this...

and this...

quicker than you can imagine!

A $25 Value!

This Martelli Ergo 2000 45 mm Rotary Cutter slices through stacks of fabric. I easily cut around 8 layers while maintaining accuracy. It has a separate model made for right or left handed users.

It may be funny looking,
but you won't be laughing!

The safety cover is is easy to flip open,
but make sure you keep it in place when not in use.
This is one sharp blade!

*After a quick warning from Linda in the comments, I'm adding a video to show the proper way to use this tool.

  4. I have two of these cutters and this is IMPORTANT- you cannot hold the cutter like the others. Watch the video.
You can't put pressure downward like a regular cutter or you will put grooves in the bolt that holds the blade. Ask me how I know. At an AQS show, the Martelli crew had me practice with a pushing motion to cut and the hold is very critical for success or you will have a cutter that does not roll for very long. They graciously gave me a couple of bolts. Just watch the video and practice- it is easy to be correct in cutting if you know what you are doing.

  97. You know I'm already following you all over the place! I've seen that tool before and wondered whether it was just a gimmick. Now I'm intrigued... But now that I shelled out for the Accuquilt GO! Baby, I think I would just get the flying geese die if I was going to make a whole quilt out of that one unit. Of course the downside to the die cutters is that you are limited to the sizes the dies come in, and if you want to cut a larger or smaller shape you need to purchase another die that might cost $40...
