Giant Rose Star Quilt Finish

Good Kite Weather!

What a blustery week we've had! Snow, thunder, rain, and even barefoot days. The weather blew in with heavy winds each time, and I was lucky to have a day with both sun and calm skies to get a picture outside. I wanted you to see the true colors of this quilt at least once. I was shocked at how hard it was to photograph the color violet inside, and this quilt has the full range.

Finding Your Sweet Spot In Quilting Pt. I

1930's & 40's Large Vintage
Log Cabin Top--Hand Pieced

August 4, 2017 quietly marked Pink Doxies' 3 year blogiversary. I spent the day volunteering at the Ohio Mennonite Relief Sale in the Quilter's Corner. (Did you know this is an annual even happening the same weekend every year?)

Charity Chain Quilt Pattern Free & Easy

Pink Doxie's Charity Chain
Quilt and Free Pattern

This pattern came out of a 'play session' I had while cutting up fabric for a charity quilt. While not a true Irish Chain pattern, it's simple and sweet, and a fabulous scrap buster. I've made it here in prints for the blocks and a solid background, but I'm just as eager to try it with a busy background and solid blocks. The dimensions are easy as pie, and very beginner friendly. I'll show you how to make one section, and you will need 3 sections for a quilt.

You will find it's so easy you can make one for yourself, and another for a charity donation in no time.

First Foods

Some of my first memories are wrapped up in quilts. I remember them at my grandma's and my great-grandmother's houses. Sometimes we would get out the special ones just to look at and remember. My mother was not a quilter, but an avid sewer. She had inherited a velvet and corduroy Victorian crazy quilt
