Secret Surprise Happy Mail

Delightful, Happy Mail
from Sandra at

Nearly a month ago, I received a surprise package in the mail. There was a whole bundle of goodies, and as I opened it I was trying to think why someone had sent me this--from Ireland, to boot! All the while, I was tickled pink by the surprise! My mind slowly went back months to maybe a year before when I had had traded emails with another blogger about being part of an exchange of sorts. In order to be a part of it, I just had to agree to send one or more forward. There were no hard rules, nor a set timeline. (Oh, I liked that part!) So, I did agree, and then forgot about it until this lovely package turned up.

Can you see from the detail what a particular sewist Sandra is? She did such beautiful work, and this was a bag she made while guest blogging for Lara at BuzzinBumble. Lara's new book "Crafted Applique: New Possibilities" came out recently, and her method took us all by surprise.

I've started using this little bag, and the applique is holding up well, if you're curious.

Along with the zipper bag, there was a pattern from a local shop enclosed, a fat quarter of summer fabric, and some hexie papers. Do you suppose several friendly bloggers have figured out I didn't own a pin cushion before last month when Beth at Cooking Up Quilts sent me one? I have that one at home with my hand sewing, and have actually gotten used to having it around. Today I sorely missed one in the studio as I was putting together a baby quilt. This one is so sweet I may have to break down, and just make it before continuing.

A long overdue, and sincere thank you goes out to Sandra, and now it's my turn to find a blogger or few somewhere in the world who would like to be part of our Pay It Forward game. If any of you are interested, leave me a comment or contact me privately. Please, if you are a no-reply blogger, provide an email address!

Come on, Doxie girls.
Let's pull up those quilts, and go to bed.

Oh what a lovely surprise for you, it is such a thrill when something is unexpected. It is equally as nice as planning a surprise for someone else :)

Lucky you! I actually saw Sandra's post with those pouches, so fun to see one of them reach their destination!

I'm so glad you liked it, Julie, it was great to surprise a few people around the world! (And I'm glad the pouch is holding up well...;-) )
