Day 5: Quilt Squad Christmas Outing

Bargain Basement flat folds: Most $6/ yard. I surprised everyone by shopping outside my comfort zone. It started with the second print from the left, and the other two blues. Then the border print below was $5 a yard, and I knew what I was making. Does fabric ever speak to you? I need earplugs.

Quilt Squad has been planning our Christmas outing for several months, and at the last minute more than half had emergencies. Three of us powered on to spend the day with good company and food. We started with Miller's Dry Goods in Charm, Ohio, and then had lunch at Boyd & Wurthman in Berlin. It’s a local hole-in-the-wall, but the best food for miles around. We got lucky, and two more of our group got to join us for lunch.

Full of food and in good spirt, off we went to a legendary store I'd never been to called Somewhere Sewing in Millersburg, Ohio. The shop was tucked back in the country, and Oh, So deceiving of what lay inside. I was snickering to my friends that they dragged me out to podunk holler in Hicksville until I went inside.

NOTE: Add Somewhere Sewing to your list of stores you need to visit if you're ever in the area. From fabrics to thread to machines, and information about it all, they have you covered. It was fabulous! Did I say they had 2 huge racks of Aurifil? Fabric is arranged by company and line, and when I asked for Moda Grunge...

Which of more than the 30 choices did I want?

Debi and Dennis are a husband and wife team, and lovely people. Somewhere Sewing is online with a huge selection, and very reasonable pricing. Their massive Andover Downton Abbey Collection is on sale for $6/ yard through the website right now.

I left inspired, and hit my books as soon as I got home. I hope to share something fun with you tomorrow so I'm off to experiment. I hope you find something to inspire you, too.

Come on, Doxie girls.
Grab your goggles, gloves, and dust masks,
and let's go .....!

Linking up with~
