For all you scrap lovers, this post is for you. 

Here's the story of a family heirloom that no one wanted to sit on. It was too hard.

Early this morning, I started thinking about this quilted seat I wanted to make. The old chair needed vintage style fabric or something that looked old. I thought about my home decorating scrap fabrics I've had for many years. This is what I had.

This is the chair. Not a stand out against our white walls. 

It was there for emergencies only. If we needed to use it, everyone scrambled Not to sit on it. It was usually mine or my husband's seat then.

I had a lot of small scraps of my heavy cotton batting left from doing chair cushions. Frugal me, I stacked them together three times, and had a nice cushion. Effy helped.

I layered thin poly batting on the top and bottom of the sandwich.

I made a muslin cover and basted it on. Not fancy.

 I started with whatever scraps looked interesting, and pieced. It grew into this.

The dottie grosgrain ribbons you see in the first pictures up above were salvaged from a blanket I bought. The whole project was done with scraps and reused materials.
